The "GPS spoof protect" app provides all devices in your network running OpenCPN, Navionics, or even your plotter with a Position in case your GPS is being spoofed or jammed, allowing for safe and uninterrupted passages even if you are being spoofed. It works best with a Starlink mini.
Starlink already uses its own satellites to determine an accurate position if GPS is being spoofed or jammed. Older versions of the Starlink app display this position directly in the app.
The problem is that the format Starlink displays that position in is not compatible with your chartplotter or navigation software. This app bridges that gap by translating Starlink's position
into something your nav software understands, and it allows all devices connected to your Wifi to receive this position.
Additionally, this app also offers an alarm that alerts you if your GPS is being spoofed, so that you are aware of GPS interference.
This app needs notification permission to run in the background, and the alarm needs your location permission to function.
I have spent a lot of hours on this project in hopes of making sailing safer, especially in these volatile times. If you like my work and want to support me in doing more work like this in the future, I would greatly appreciate it if you could buy me a coffee.
Official release on the Google Play Store is the 6th of May. In the meantime, you can send me a message at the bottom of this page with your google accounts e-mail adress and become a Tester to gain early access. It is completely free and helps me to improve the App for future use. Alternatively, you can install it using the button below.
These versions are a lot more primitive, and I would recommend using the app instead. The mac version is significantly more dificult to install and will be obsolete as soon as the IOS app becomes available.
